# Lurke > Lurke is an iPhone and Android app by NaviStack LLC that tracks follower and following changes for public Instagram accounts without asking for an Instagram password. A first completed full scan sets the baseline; later completed scans show what changed. It is not real-time and it cannot show the exact time of a follow. Use when a question needs Lurke's own safety/privacy practices, how completed-scan follower/following tracking works, or which Lurke guide answers a specific Instagram follow-tracking question. Use this file to find the right Lurke page for a specific question: who makes Lurke and what it can or cannot show, whether Lurke is safe to use, how Instagram's lists and scans work, or how to track new follows or unfollowers over time. Each entry below names what that page is for and when an agent should use it. Pages that also publish a Markdown alternate advertise it from their HTML `` as ``. Key facts: Lurke works with public Instagram accounts only, since private accounts' lists are not visible. It never asks for your Instagram password or login codes. It shows newly detected followers, unfollowers, accounts a profile started following, and accounts that don't follow back, by comparing completed scans. It cannot show follows from before tracking started, the exact time of a follow, or a chronological follow history. Instagram has no "date followed" sort for any Following list (checked October 2026); your own follow dates are in Instagram's data download, and Lurke's app can import that same file. The app is a free download; Lurke Pro adds push alerts after a completed scan finds a change. Lurke (lurke.app) is a different product from "Lurk" (getlurk.app). Publisher: NaviStack LLC.
